AWAS! Agen Pemasaran Pembangkang Semakin Aktif

  3. Industrial Development Minister Datuk Raymond Tan Tsu Kiah has described the Alternative Budget released by Pakatan Rakyat as one that has no direction and planning.

    1. He said the budget announcement, led by DAP only took Penang as an example which definitely is not relevant at all.

      Delete
    2. “Their alternative budget cannot take Penang as example as both Sabah and Penang face very different situations,” Raymond said in a press conference at the State Legislative Assembly.

      Delete

    3. He said Penang is a small state that is facing an increasingly volatile financial crisis as it is only dependent solely on the manufacturing industry.

      Delete

    4. The state under the rule of the DAP was now feeling the impact of the global economic crisis presently experienced by many European countries.

      Delete
    5. “The pressure of the global economy resulted as Penang only depended on the manufacturing industries such as electrical and IT and now experience economic slowdown compared to the other states,” he said.

    6. Raymond said, in comparison, Sabah is much bigger than Penang and endowed with natural resources and is now developing rapidly.

    7. Besides, he said, Sabah has already achieved its target to attract foreign investors here, as experienced in the past two or three years where the investment in Sabah had increased tremendously as a result of investments in the oil and gas industry.

      Delete

    8. This can be attested to the fact that in the first quarter of this year, Sabah has become the state that had attracted more investments compared to other states.

      Delete

    9. “From January to July this year, Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) reported that Sabah is the second state after Selangor to successfully attract more investments from abroad,” he said.

    10. He said in making Sabah this advanced various sorts of approaches were taken by the State government since 2006 until now and this is not an easy feat.

      Delete
    11. Although we have achieved the target, he said, the strong financial position now proves Sabah will continue to prosper and be able to attract investors to come here in the future.

      Delete
    12. However in Penang, he said, the state was in first position when it received investments totalling RM9 billion last year (2011), but the total has reduced to RM8 billion this year.

    13. Besides, he said, because of deteriorating economic conditions, the real estate market in Penang has been affected forcing property developers there to raise their prices to high levels.

      Delete
    14. “If in the last two or three years the price for a condominium was less than half a million, now the price has escalated to over RM2.7 million,” he said adding that the economic downturn in Penang also caused the state to rely on sale of property which has a high prospect.

      Delete
    15. But in Sabah, Raymond said, the real estate market here is growing rapidly and this is evidenced during the property expo organised by SHAREDA (Sabah Real Estate & Housing Developers Association) here last August where they successfully provided a total of RM2.6 billion real estate for sale.

      Delete

    16. Of the total, he said, as much as RM650 million worth of property in various forms in Sabah had been sold.

    17. Meanwhile, Raymond also revealed that there were cases of real estate developers from Penang coming and selling their property here, not only in Kota Kinabalu but in other districts as well, like Sandakan.

    18. “This shows that Sabah is not is a poor state and if the opposition say this is a poor state, why do the developers from their place (Penang) come and sell the property to the people of Sabah,” he said.

      Delete

    19. Raymond also stressed the difference between the two states saying that Penang was only able to show a 2013 Budget of RM300 million while Sabah was able to present an RM4.088 billion budget.

  4. Pakatan Rakyat’s shadow 2013 Budget is ‘mathematically wrong’, misleading, and will definitely increase Malaysia’s fiscal deficit and debt against the gross domestic product (GDP) to 7.2 per cent and 57.8 per cent respectively, said Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.

    1. He said claims by the Opposition that the latter’s proposed budget will reduce fiscal deficit to 3.5 per cent was a fine example of “bad mathematics”.

      Delete
    2. “The treasury sat down and looked at both the budgets. Then we found out that the government’s budget was complete and well-explained.

      Delete
    3. “As such, we thought the government should wait no more in coming forward and explaining to Malaysians which is a serious and responsible budget.

      Delete

    4. “Their (Pakatan) budget is incomplete. They did not include most of the operating expenses in their budget. That is why Pakatan can come up with a lower operating expenditure,” he told reporters.

      Delete

    5. Ahmad Husni said the Pakatan’s proposed budget will force the government to spend an operating expenses of RM224.3 billion, far more than the RM185.3 billion claimed by the Opposition.

      Delete
    6. He added that the shadow budget did not reflect the real position of the government’s financial performance and also did not take into account the plans which were unveiled by the Opposition in their specific budget.

      Delete

    7. Pakatan’s proposed budget which showed a reduction of RM2.6 billion to RM56 billion for government servants’ emoluments, would also translate into shedding 72,000 jobs based on hypothetical average salary of RM3,000 a month or RM36,000 a year, he said.

      Delete
    8. Ahmad Husni said if the proposed minimum wage adjustment is implemented, the government will need an extra allocation of RM4.4 billion while the abolishment of tolls will cost the government another RM6 billion through higher subsidies.

      Delete

  5. “Among the plans which were not taken into account in calculating the country’s deficit was Pakatan’s proposed minimum wage adjustment, annual bonus handouts for senior citizens, abolishment of tolls and the debt that will be beared by the government through the abolishment of PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund Corporation),” he said.

  6. Pakatan Rakyat’s alternative budget on the implementation of minimum wage at RM1,100 would only add fuel to fire because it would mean destroying small-medium industries and increasing the country’s unemployment rate. Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin branded the opposition budget as ‘brainless populist’, which was designed to fish for votes instead of improving the lives of the people. It seemed like the opposition just plucked the figures from their imagination and hoped the people would be fooled by it. But we all know the figure is highly unrealistic and would cause more harm to the country’s economy.

    1. Khairy has a point on this: If we follow through with their suggestion, there are risks for bankruptcy in the small-medium industries. Workers might be let off because the companies cannot afford them and unemployment rate would go up.

      Delete
    2. Khairy said the Barisan Nasional Youth wing had fought for the implementation of minimum wage for many years before the government decided to implement it, following an announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during Worker’s Day celebration earlier this year.

Meanwhile, a quick-survey by the SMI Association of Malaysia on the implementation of Pakatan’s minimum wage among small-medium enterprises revealed a consensus rejection towards the rate as suggested by opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.Association president Tee Kee Sin said the 10,000 members had voiced their worries over the rate PR suggested. Even with the current minimum wage rate from the government, many of the enterprises are asking for the implementation period to be extended. More than seven million of the country’s total employment rate are generated by SMI and it would be severely affected if we follow PR’s suggestion.

    3. The problem now is that many employees in the sector have started asking for RM1,100 as minimum wage and our members just cannot afford to pay our employees that much. Hulu Selangor member of parliament P. Kamalanathan said the government had consulted various agencies and stakeholders such as the World Bank, SMI associations and the National Wages Consultative Council. Before we decided on the minimum wages of RM900 for peninsula and RM800 for Sabah and Sarawak, we consulted people who would be affected by the implementation. However, the opposition clearly does not consult the people first before making any decisions on their behalf.
